Laundry Consulting for Hotels and Resorts
Hotels, Resorts, & Cruise Ships
ATS provides InSourcing, Facility Management, and Laundry Consulting services to the Hospitality industry to analyze operational costs, reduce linen and uniform replacement costs, and optimize every function of every department.
Market Dynamics
The American Hotel and Lodging Association reports there are 52,000 hotels and resorts in the United States representing over 5 million rooms. ATS’ marketing research indicates that unlike the healthcare industry most hotels and resorts operate on-premise laundries, particularly in resort areas, or have their linen and uniforms processed at brand owned and operated centralize laundry facilities. In certain markets, however, there is an increasing number of commercial laundries providing outsourcing services.
Our research indicates approximately $1.8 billion is spent annually for linen and uniform replacement, and only 35-40 percent of this expenditure is discarded due to normal wear and tear, thus between $1.08-1.17 billion is unaccountably lost or pilfered annually throughout the industry. This is a staggering fact caused by a fundamental absence of a Textile Management Program at hotels and results.
What is Textile Management?
Textile Management is defined as managing the textile assets and supervising the storage, collection and distribution of linen and uniforms within the hotels, which is known as “linen-uniform control” or reduction in loss, use, misuse, and abuse.
ATS has significantly reduced linen and uniform replacement costs at several hundred hotels and resorts.
Why our partners engage ATS leadership and services
Many of our engagements are initiated through hospitality leaders seeking to manage decisions between internal operational or service challenges and fiscal responsibility. Whether it be to purchase equipment or reviewing service options, there is a commonality between our partnerships.
“ATS is successful not only because of our ability to provide unbiased, independent, thorough, analytical information to make decisions, we also bring the most unique important service to our partners; we help them understand why they are making them and how to clearly understand all of their options”.
We help our hospitality partners apply our analysis to better understand their current operational costs, explain what they should be and provide paths to achieve their goals. The laundry as part of the “heart of the house” provides critical support to all areas of a property and any issues affect optimal functions of every department.
Markets Served by Anderson Textile Services
In addition to providing laundry consulting, InSourcing and facility management services to hotel and resort properties in the United States, ATS has been engaged by hotel and resort properties in Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and selected International counties. Our clients encompass limited service through luxury brands.
Enhanced Linen Protocols
As a result of the coronavirus outbreak many of the hotel companies are developing enhanced cleanliness standards for guest rooms, restaurants, kitchens, elevators, lobbies, meeting and banquet rooms, fitness centers, pools, and back-of-the house areas. There have been several recent articles on hotel operator’s plans to update sanitization protocols, all of which seem to be sound and professionally researched. However, no where in any of these articles is there a mention of elevated cleanliness standards for protecting hotel guest and employees related to processing, sanitizing, storing, and distributing linen whether the hotel operates an on-premise laundry or outsourcing to a local commercial vendor.
We at ATS have developed systems and protocols to protect the hotel guests, employees, and the linen asset.
